Steps

  1. 01

    Simmer husks in water 1 hour, lid on, until the liquid is dark coffee-brown.

  2. 02

    Strain through cloth, then reduce to a syrup.

  3. 03

    Stir in salt and vinegar (preservative).

  4. 04

    Mix in gum arabic and honey; pan up.

  • A handful of green or blackened walnut husks (gloves recommended)
  • 500 ml water
  • Pinch of salt + drop of vinegar
  • 1 tsp gum arabic + drop of honey
