Cardboard & Egg-Carton Paper

Brown packaging turns into beautiful natural-toned sheets.

Texture
Warm tan, slightly fibrous
Yield
≈ 4 sheets A5 per cup

Same as recycled paper, but made from torn-up brown cardboard or egg cartons.

  • Soak overnight — kraft fibers are tougher than office paper.
  • Gives natural tan-brown sheets without any dye.
  • Egg cartons break down faster than corrugated boxes.

Steps

  1. 01

Tear into small pieces and soak overnight in hot water.

  2. 02

Blend in small batches — egg cartons break down faster than corrugated.

  3. 03

Pull sheets exactly as for recycled office paper.

  4. 04

Press extra hard — kraft fiber holds a lot of water.

  • Work in a ventilated area; keep food and drink out of the studio
  • Read each material's safety data sheet (SDS) before starting
  • Have water, soap, and a first-aid kit accessible

Heuristic guidance derived from listed materials. Always consult each material's safety data sheet (SDS) and a qualified instructor before attempting.

Notes

Add 10% blended white paper for a softer, more writable surface.
