RecycledEasySafety: High Risk
Newsprint Recycled Paper
Old newspapers give a beautiful dove-grey sheet.
Texture
Cool grey, soft
Yield
≈ 6 sheets A5 per cup
Blend old newspaper with water, add a pinch of baking soda to neutralize the acid, then form sheets.

- ▸Color comes out a soft cool grey from the printing ink.
- ▸Cheap, fast, perfect for practice.
Steps
- 01
Tear newsprint into small strips, cover with hot water + baking soda, soak 2+ hours.
- 02
Blend to smooth pulp.
- 03
Pull and couch as usual.
- 04
Press and dry slowly between felts under weight for the flattest sheet.

Heuristic guidance derived from listed materials. Always consult each material's safety data sheet (SDS) and a qualified instructor before attempting.
Notes
Baking soda neutralises some acid in the paper — sheets stay whiter longer.
